Nostalgia

We have enjoyed traveling in Vermontand now we even get to see some of the Northern Mountains entertain snow. I am sure this is artificial but it was cold enough to start setting the scene for the many ski lodges in the area. Kayaking in the summer, hiking anytime of the year and skiing in the winter; with the constant bicycles traveling on their own designated lanes in town. Outdoor enthusiast with free spirits mix everyday!
I took My Gary to Panera Bread last week and we enjoyed some hot soup and a mix of sandwiches. A little old couple sat nearby and I made a story up about their lives; he looked like a retired professor and she must have spent her life in a library! Have you ever tried to figure out some other persons' journey just by watching them? Is that called people watching....?
Covered Bridges abound here, we even went across one last week. So Cool!!!
Our trip to the Norman Rockwell Museum was a great day. The drive anywhere here is always just gorgeous and we usually find some great place to eat. N. Rockwell was a humble man. He spent most of his life in Vermont near where this particular museum was located. His oil paintings are in Arlington ,Vermont. He relocated to Mass in the early 50's when his 2nd wife became ill and needed the medical help he found her there. His art work is so unique. He was never called an "artist" but an illustrator. Whatever he was called I call it wonderful work!!
We went through the many magazine covers that were original and decided on one that is from 1949...the year we were born....of a young girl and a young boy getting ready for their date in their own bedrooms in front of their mirrors! I so thought that was for us since we are celebrating our 40th all this year and we dated all through high school!....... the red caboose is highlighted on this page of our journey because we voted today. Years ago my Grandpa...Poppy...would take the ballot box to the County Seat in Hancock County, Findlay, Ohio by way of the B&O RR....he would stay a couple days while there. He would take the ballots to the court house, get a room at the Findlay Inn, talk with the Civil and Spanish American War Soldiers that lingered around the Court House; take some out to eat...then decide on what new lambs he wanted to add to his flock and then get back on the B&O and return to the Williamstown area just around 15 miles. Oh, what a life!! So family friendly wouldn't you agree?! Quilted Love As Always!! Kari
